# Piroa Conservation Trust

> Community-led predator control, weed action, and biodiversity restoration
> across 25,000 hectares of the Piroa-Brynderwyns, eastern Northland,
> Aotearoa New Zealand. Run by volunteers and supported by the Department
> of Conservation, Northland Regional Council, and Ministry for Primary
> Industries.

The Trust coordinates funding and resources for dozens of community groups
working on pest control, weed management, water care, native planting and
bird monitoring. Northland brown kiwi, translocated to the ranges between
2013 and 2026, are breeding in the hills alongside fairy tern, Australasian
bittern, and bellbird (korimako).
